Whatcha Readin?

Fall not only means back to school, it means my book club is starting up again!

Woo-hoo! Love it! Love the books, the giggling at Chevy's, the chips and salsa! But, I'm tapped out of ideas for books this year.

So, I'm asking. What are a couple of your all-time favorite books?

  1. I just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini. It's going on my list of perspective changers. It was hard to read, and isn't the least bit light hearted, but oh, it's a good one.

Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie is a fun read. Orson Scott Card's Women of Genesis books are very compelling. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn has always been one of my favorites, and A Heart is a Lonely Hunter, by Carson McCullers. Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett, Steinbeck's East of Eden, One Hundred Years of Solitude is another good one...

That's all I got off the top of my head. A whole bunch of suggestions were made on Inkmom's blog last post... check out her comments. That might help too!

  3. I'd tell you, but then I'd have nothing to contribute over a bowl of fresh salsa this week.

So you'll just have to wait!

  4. I am no help in this area. Chalk it up to by the time I get kids in bed my energy has been zapped :) Wish I lived closer so I could just come to your meetings and enjoy the company. Sounds fun!

  5. Wish I could help, but my favorite books have come from our book club already! :) Let me know what books you decide on, though! Can't wait to hear.

  6. I hear the Hunger Games is a good book. If you are looking for a series, then I highly recommend the Percy Jackson series as well as the Marked series. I like The Host by Stephenie Meyer. Princess of the Midnight Ball is good. Any of the Narnia books. I'm reading Return by Robert D. Hales for my marriage class this semester. I hope this helps!

  7. Well first off if your book club has not read The Help - Go for it - It is GREAT!!!
I actually just finished reading the last Harry Potter book. It has been so long since I read it that I had forgotten what happened so I refreshed my memory before the movie comes out in a couple months.
